One of the most important and urgent discussion s this year were held in the WHO(Worlds Health Organisation) committee. This year’s topic was about children.

Children is our future, the future, that must be protected. But today there’re so many problems that affect children , who cant always take care of themselves. This year, the WHO committee was supposed to discuss the education questions in the third world countries, discuss the increasing popularity of drugs, smoking and alcohol among children. Look at these problems from different angles, points of view of different countries.

Parent usually try to protect their children from these disgusting horrors, but not all of them are always able to do that. So governments of different countries have to pay much attention to these questions. This was a good opportunity for delegates, as young people, to think about possible solutions of these problems.

Countries of different development have different interests and ways of dealing with such things, so it was sometimes difficult to come to an agreement. But in total, some resolutions were accepted, and we hope that in future they will play an important role in childrens lives all over the world.

На первом заседании Всемирной Организации Здравоохранения мы присутствовали на дискуссии, на повестке дня которой стоял важный вопрос: Здравоохранение и развитие детей и подростков.

Самыми активными оказались представители Китая, Эстонии и Венгрии. Но больше всего нас поразило выступление делегатов Российской Федерации. Они открыто говорили о таких проблемах в области здравоохранения, как наркомания, и способах ее освещения в СМИ. Никто не остался равнодушным в обсуждении темы курения и алкоголизма. Представители Эстонии и Венгрии заметили, что именно эта проблема является “ болевой точкой” Российской Федерации. По их мнению, Россия занимает лидирующую позицию по количеству курящих и пьющих подростов. Атмосфера накалилась. Россия бурно выразила свое несогласие.

“ Мнения разделились, как всегда, - между сильными.” Каждый коротко и уверенно высказывал свою позицию, но долгое время не могли достичь понимания. А ведь, как сказал Жозеф Жубер, “понимание - это начало согласия.”

Мы, в свою очередь, с большим интересом наблюдали за ходом событий и с нетерпением ждали, чем же все закончится.

На исходе дня была принята резолюция. Несмотря на все разногласия, участники остались довольны утвержденной резолюцией.

“Битва эрудитов”

Сегодня мы с новыми силами принялись за работу и посвятили себя написанию статьи об участниках и наших собственных ощущениях от посещения Всемирной Организации Здравоохранения.

С самого утра наш пресс-центр отправился на обсуждения ВОЗ, где мы стали свидетелями “битвы эрудитов ”. Коллегиальное собрание эрудитов было очень увлечено обсуждениями здоровья детей, курения и употребления алкоголя в подростковом возрасте. Через полчаса после начала конференции разгорелись бурные дебаты. Участники так вошли в кураж, что, казалось, не замечали никого вокруг, и это несмотря на то, что обсуждения проходили на английском языке! Кстати, я считаю, что российские дипломаты могут многому научиться у наших участников и даже взять несколько идей преобразования нашей страны.

Recently the Moscow Youth Model United Nations has been held. The agenda of the WHO session was “Children and adolescent health and development”.
We can’t deny the significance of this topic as it’s commonly known that children are our future. A healthy, happy and intelligent young generation is a valuable potention we possess, However we can’t deny that the humanity is facing many problems in this sphere and the living conditions of children and adolescents are not always proper.
And what can we do to create a world in which children and adolescents can grow up and develop in a safe and supportive environment? The answer to this question we tried to find in WHO session. It actually appeared to be a success. It was really exciting to participate as a delegate in the WHO session. The debates about working out a draft resolution were quite hot. The informal caucus when all delegations had the opportunity to promote their ideas and collaborate with those whose ideas seemed to be similar turned out to be he most useful tool available and also very challenging. All delegations revealed deep knowledge and complete understanding of the problem. As well as a desire to achieve consolidation to improve the living standarts of children and adolescents. The draft resolution was sponsored and cosponsored by particularly all member countries and was finally adopted by the majority vote.
All in all/ I want to say that the Model UN gave me a chance to inquire into the healthcare problems and ways to solve them better, feel myself a diplomat and realize fully the importance of international cooperation to achieve common goals.
